Sunday Morning Adult Bible Class: The Lord's Supper

Beginning on November 13, we will examine what the Scriptures and Lutheran Confessions have to say about the life-giving blessing of the Lord's Supper given by God to the Church. Here we will learn of the miracle in bread and wine established by the God-man Jesus Christ and of His gift of the His true body to eat and His true blood to drink for the forgiveness of sins and the strengthening of our faith.

Adult Bible Class - Taught by Korinne Kramer - At Christ Corner

Are you going through a difficult period of life? The loss of a loved one? Unemployment? During these desert times, it's easy to think God has disappeared.  Instead, discover that it's only when we are totally dependent on him that we find him closer than ever and can experience God's amazing grace and provision.   This is taught by historian and teacher Ray Vander Laan,  from his "Faith Lessons" series, Walking with God in the Desert. A DVD will be shown at the beginning of each chapter highlighting and explaining life in the desert as it relates to our faith.  Come join our small group Bible study.  If you miss a Sunday, there is nothing to make up. Join us when you can

Wednesday Midweek Bible Class

• Located in Zion's Church Basement Fellowship Hall

• 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

• Wednesdays (October 5, 2016 – April 26, 2017)

October 2016: Colossians, with Pastor Tom Colgrove

November 2016 – January 2017: Lectionary Readings, with Pastor Lucas Woodford – Each week specific Bible readings are publically read in the Divine Service. They come from what is called the "Lectionary." A lectionary is a system of biblical readings put together to correspond with the various times of the church year to ensure that Christians have opportunity to hear the whole counsel of God from the Scriptures and be reminded of all his interactions and saving work that he has done among his people. Each week this Bible study focuses on the assigned readings for the following Sunday and takes the opportunity to reflect specifically on how the Lord's Word was received when it was originally written, as well as how it continues to speak to us today.

Welcome to Worship Class (for all prospective new members)

Central to the make-up of our congregation is our worship life. Understanding our worship life gives direction to our daily life. Knowing how God serves us with his Word and sacraments allows us to go out into our community and world to serve others in the name of Jesus Christ. Therefore Zion asks all prospective new members (and invites any current members) to go through this process in order to understand and rejoice in the distinct nature of our worship and faith life at Zion and thus partner with us as we endeavor to be witnesses to Jesus Christ to those in our community, those in our lives and "even to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8).

Communicant Membership Class (for those joining our congregation from another denomination)

What Lutherans believe and teach about Word of God is distinct from all other Christians. The Lutheran teachings on the Lord’s Supper is certainly no different. We believe the Lord’s Supper is a life-giving blessing given by God to the Church. It is a miracle in bread and wine established by the God-man Jesus Christ. Those who attend will examine what the Scriptures and the Confessions have to say about Jesus’ gift of His true body to eat and His true blood to drink.
