"Sharing Hope, Teaching Christ" Zion Lutheran Church Zion’s Mission: This is our understanding of why God wants us here as a congregation. Zion’s Values: These are the values we will stand for equally without compromise, regardless of the challenges placed before us. These are our guiding principles, defining our relationships and how we work together. God’s Word We accept the inerrant, inspired Word of God as the sole source and authority of our faith and life. Biblical Stewardship We are faithful and responsible caretakers of the time, talent and treasure God has blessed us with to Share Hope and Teach Christ. Compassion Our compassion is marked by a united presence of caring, authenticity, collaboration and accountability for the complete well-being of members and nonmembers, and especially for those who do not have the hope of Jesus Christ. Discipleship We are justified and sanctified through Jesus Christ to fervently live our everyday lives to the glory and honor of God, where we are zealous to grow in our faith and eager to Share Hope and Teach Christ in all ministry endeavors to the congregation, the community, and to the ends of the earth. Outreach We create a contagious community that intentionally reaches out with the love of Jesus locally through evangelism in our community and globally through missions. Worship Through our worship we unite to praise and thank God, learn from His Word and receive regular renewal through the Means of Grace as we rest and refuel in the unconditional love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. Vision: Zion is united in our commitment to grow in our Christian faith through: • Inspirational Worship We come together in confessional worship that inspires us to go out into the world as forgiven sinners who endeavor to connect people to Jesus through the power of His Word and Holy Spirit. Examples: Communion every Sunday at both traditional and blended services. Regular children’s talks. Choirs and special music that help focus the proclamation of the Word. • Intentional Outreach We unceasingly reach out with compassion and joy to touch the hearts and minds of the lost and wayward and give them the hope of salvation through Christ. Examples: Training Laity for Outreach, Community Outreach & Events, Missions locally & globally, etc. • Incomparable Christian Education We teach with confidence the promise of salvation and offer educational experiences that are unsurpassed in developing lifelong disciples of Jesus. Examples: Christian Day School, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Bible Classes (church & in-home), etc. • Impassioned Service We model our life of service after Jesus, the ultimate servant. We meet others where they are in life, embracing their hurts, their brokenness, their sin-afflicted lives, loving them and inviting them to follow Jesus, who is “the way, the truth and the life.” Examples: Visitation Ministry, Stephen Ministry, Family Ministry, Youth Ministry, Child Care, Before/After School Care, Parish Nurse, etc. • Invitational Living We strive to invite people to come along with us through our life of discipleship as we follow the Lord in sharing hope by teaching Christ. Examples: Commitment to our warm, caring and welcoming congregation, fellowship, community events (Block parties, Easter Fair, Fall Festival, Fun in the Son), and visitation ministry. |
